College and University Placement Exam
Some colleges and universities require students to take a placement exam to determine which level of math and English in which to place a student. Sometimes students are required to take classes that don't count towards their degree, which costs more time and money. Check with your college or university to see which placement exam they administer and you can practice ahead of time.
Lewis and Clark Community College no longer requires a placement exam for incoming freshmen. They now use a student's transcript and ACT/SAT scores to decide the best placement for each student.
Students at Southwestern have the opportunity to earn dual credit for certain classes. Good subject scores on SAT/PSAT10/PSAT 9 can ensure that students qualify for the dual credit. Some students may be required to take a placement test and earn a certain score to qualify for dual credit. A link for the Accuplacer sample tests that LCCC uses has been placed below.
