Founded more than one hundred years ago as a way to protect student-athletes, the NCAA continues to implement that principle with increased emphasis on both athletics and academic excellence.
The NCAA is made up of three membership classifications that are known as Divisions I, II and III. Each division creates its own rules governing personnel, amateurism, recruiting, eligibility, benefits, financial aid, and playing and practice seasons – consistent with the overall governing principles of the Association. Every program must affiliate its core program with one of the three divisions.
At CMHS we encourage student athletes to register with the NCAA clearinghouse their junior school year or the Fall of their senior year. Students can register at https://www.ncaa.org under "Eligibility Center" or click the button below.
The fee this year is $90. If your son or daughter qualified for an ACT fee waiver (free lunch status), see your school counselor for a fee waiver for NCAA!
When students enter the Eligibility Center link below, they will now have 2 choices.
1. Students who are sure that they want to compete at the Division I or II level should create a Certification Account. This is an official registration and will require the $90 fee. Please note, an athlete must have a Certification Account to take "Official Visits" or sign a National Letter of Intent (NLI) with a DI or DII school.
2. If a student wants to compete at the Division III level or is unsure about which division they want to compete in, they should complete the Profile Page which is free. If a "Profile Page Athlete" decides to compete at the DI or DI level, he/she can upgrade to the $90 Certification Account.
Please note, a Profile Page can be upgraded to a $90 Certification Account but a Certification Account can not be downgraded to a Profile Page. In other words...no refunds!
